Reliable and valid assessment data is an important source of information for monitoring student progress, tracking student achievement, improving program practices, and meeting program accountability requirements. Effective instuction based on routine student assessment and aligned with student's stated needs, interests, and goals leads to increased positive student outcomes and improved program quality.
